"There comes that mysterious meeting in life
when someone acknowledges who we are and what we can be,
igniting the circuits of our highest potential."
~Rusty Berkus
The concept of Buttercup Beads went from bud to bloom by Owner/Artist and Lampworker, Andrea Mazzenga - mostly due to years of personal frustration at the lack of bead stores in her area along with the need to travel long distances outside her hometown of Limerick to purchase quality findings and materials for her projects.
Andrea has been beading and creating beautiful artisan pieces for many years. She has progressed from simple stringing to complicated bead weaving, to Silver smithing clasps and findings, to Lampworking her own beads for her jewelry designs. She has enjoyed a successful home based business selling her wares both nationally and internationally through her website - Believable Balderdash; as well as privately at home parties, through juried craft shows, and in local boutiques and galleries. She is extremely grateful to her loyal customer base whose purchases and enthusiasm for her work through the years have inspired her to grow and cultivate her abilities. She has taught various beading techniques both privately and publicly and is personally responsible for addicting more than a few of her students to the wonderfully relaxing craft of beading.
In the spring of 2006, she was invited by a small group of very fabulous beaders (who just also happened to be her friends) to help form The Main Line Bead Society. The prospect of uniting other talented beaders to share information and technique was very exciting to her and she jumped at the opportunity. Before long, Main Line Bead Society had opened its doors and achieved its goals of uniting the beading community. Within the year, Main Line Bead Society had also become the largest bead society in the tri-county Philadelphia area. Currently, she wears the tiaras of Chief Information Officerette and Webmistress for the society. She is also possessed by an evil alter ego known as Dear Babby - whose role is to answer the member's questions (so long as her nails are dry.) It is sometimes rumored that if Aunt Babby doesn't know the answer to a particular question - she sorta just makes things up. (Just don't say that you heard that here.)
Through Buttercup Beads, Andrea hopes to provide a unique social setting where other beaders can come to hone their craft, as well as their creativity, under the guidance of very excellent teachers and a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Buttercup Beads welcomes you to become part of their beadazzled community.
